Islamabad, March 19 2025: The federal government has officially declared Eid-ul-Fitr Holidays 2025, granting citizens a three-day break from Monday, March 31, to Wednesday, April 2.
According to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division, the holidays will allow people across the country to celebrate Eid after the holy month of Ramadan concludes.
Eid-ul-Fitr Holidays is expected to fall on March 31, as the Shawwal moon is likely to be visible on the evening of Sunday, March 30.
The Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council has indicated that the moon will be more than 26 hours old by sunset, making its sighting highly probable if weather conditions remain clear.

Astronomical experts explain that for a new moon to be visible, it must be at least 18 hours old. Given that the time gap between sunset and moonset meets the required criteria, there is a strong chance that Eid will be observed on March 31.
The final confirmation of the Shawwal crescent sighting will be announced by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee after reviewing reports from different regions. If the moon is sighted on March 30, Pakistanis will begin their Eid festivities the following day.
This year’s Eidul Fitr holidays will provide families an opportunity to come together and celebrate the joyous occasion.
As the nation prepares for the festivities, authorities urge citizens to follow official announcements regarding the moon sighting to avoid any confusion.
