Islamabad, Nov 26: The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) is accepting applications for the Member IT (MP-1 Scale) position, a key role in shaping Pakistan’s digital transformation and IT policy development. The initial contract will be for three years, extendable annually for up to two more years, contingent upon satisfactory performance.
Eligible candidates must hold a Ph.D. or Master’s degree in ICT fields such as Computer Science, Information Technology, or Software Engineering from an HEC-recognized institution. Ph.D. holders need at least seven years of professional experience, including three in senior management, while Master’s degree holders must have nine years, with a similar leadership tenure.
Applicants should demonstrate expertise in digital technologies, strategic management, and IT standards, along with strong stakeholder engagement skills. The maximum age limit is 62 years.
The selection process involves shortlisting by a committee and final approval by the Prime Minister. Reporting to the Secretary of IT and Telecom, the Member IT will focus on policymaking, cybersecurity, e-governance, and fostering IT export growth, alongside initiatives like cloud adoption and data protection legislation.
This vacancy follows the upcoming conclusion of Syed Junaid Imam’s tenure in January 2025. Appointed in 2019, Imam received multiple extensions and significantly contributed to IT policy advancements despite export challenges. His leadership is seen as critical until the new appointment is finalized.
