Islamabad, 19 Apr, 2025: Attacks on Fast-Food Chains across Pakistan have raised national concern, prompting a strong and decisive response from the federal government.

In a clear stance against the recent wave of violence, Attacks on Fast-Food Chains have been firmly denounced by Minister of State for Interior, Tallal Chaudhry, who vowed that such acts of aggression would be met with strict legal consequences.

Speaking at a press briefing in Faisalabad on Saturday, Minister Chaudhry condemned the nationwide incidents of vandalism targeting international fast-food brands.

These attacks, which escalated in parts of Sindh and Punjab, were reportedly driven by protest sentiments over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Tragically, one such incident in Sheikhupura led to the loss of an employee’s life, further intensifying public and governmental concern.

Chaudhry emphasized that safeguarding human life and private property, whether local or foreign-owned, is a core duty of the state.

“The government has a constitutional obligation to protect all businesses operating within the country’s borders,” he stated.

He further added that clear directives had been issued by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi to all provincial authorities, underscoring that the safety of citizens and commercial establishments must be prioritized.

He reaffirmed that individuals involved in such unlawful acts regardless of their intentions would face the full force of the law.

“No form of emotional outrage justifies violence or destruction of property,” Chaudhry stressed, referring to nearly 20 reported cases of attacks on fast-food outlets such as KFC across the country.

Reflecting on the tragic Sheikhupura case, he expressed sorrow that a worker’s life was unjustly taken due to mob aggression, allegedly carried out by individuals acting under the guise of religious solidarity.

“Those responsible not only violated the law but also betrayed the true essence of Islam,” he remarked.

Highlighting religious guidance on the matter, Chaudhry noted that various respected Islamic scholars had issued fatwas declaring such violent boycotts and hate-driven campaigns against businesses as un-Islamic. “Islam does not permit destruction, injustice, or hostility against the innocent,” he concluded.

The federal government’s stance is clear protests must remain peaceful and within the framework of the law.

As emotions run high globally, Pakistan reaffirms its commitment to law, order, and the protection of all who live and invest within its borders.
