Islamabad, Sep 24: Shaza Fatima, the minister of state for information technology and telecommunication, announced on Tuesday that the “Smartphone for Everyone” policy has been approved by the law department and would shortly be unveiled.
The telecom sector had previously unveiled the “Smartphone for All” payment plan program in an effort to increase the proportion of connected and smartphone-owning citizens.Speaking with media representatives, the minister stated that although the telecom industry had provided the policy, it was unable to proceed because of a few flaws and opposition from one telecom operator.
The policy, according to her, is being worked on by the Ministry and has been approved by the Law Department. It should be released very soon.The program, which has been in development for more than a year, will allow people to purchase cellphones in convenient installments.
