Islamabad, Jan 3: The Ministry of Religious Affairs has announced plans to accommodate 5,000 additional pilgrims under the Hajj scheme shortly. This decision was revealed during the National Assembly Standing Committee on Religious Affairs meeting, presided over by MNA Aamir Dogar. The session primarily addressed preparations for the upcoming Hajj season, emphasizing service improvements for Pakistani pilgrims.
Officials assured that food quality for pilgrims would remain a top priority. Discussions also centered on the need for enhanced training programs to ensure pilgrims are adequately prepared for the rituals. Mujahid Ali, a committee member, underlined the importance of providing proper guidance to participants, while Aamir Dogar commended the ongoing efforts to raise awareness through Hajj camps.
A significant point of contention during the session was the lack of Pakistan Houses in Makkah and Madinah. Responding to a query from Asiya Naz Tanoli, the Secretary of Religious Affairs explained that Saudi regulations do not permit constructing such facilities on private land. Despite these limitations, the Ministry affirmed its dedication to providing essential amenities for pilgrims.
The Secretary also highlighted challenges in maintaining certain services traditionally available to pilgrims. For instance, previously complimentary amenities like water coolers now incur charges. Nevertheless, the Ministry reassured the committee of its commitment to delivering necessary facilities and ensuring a seamless experience for all Hajj participants. This announcement underscores the government’s intent to improve Hajj-related arrangements, reflecting an ongoing focus on the welfare and convenience of pilgrims traveling from Pakistan.
