Islamabad, July 23, 2025: In a strategic push to enhance Lahore’s infrastructure, the federal government has approved the construction of two major interchanges that will link the Ravi Riverfront Urban Development Project (RRUDP) with national motorways.
This move aims to ease traffic congestion and provide direct motorway connectivity to Ravi City, one of the most ambitious urban renewal projects in Pakistan.
The decision was finalized during a high-level session at the National Highway Authority (NHA), chaired by Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan. He emphasized the need to fast-track development, instructing officials to accelerate progress on the interchanges to meet growing urban demands.
According to insiders at the Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA), one interchange will connect with the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway (LSM) via the Eastern Bypass, while the second will link directly to Motorway M-2. Both routes are expected to streamline access, reduce travel time, and support the rapid growth of Ravi City’s urban and commercial zones.

These infrastructure projects are seen as a crucial step in transforming Ravi Riverfront into a smart, sustainable city model, while also relieving pressure on Lahore’s aging road network. Once completed, the interchanges are expected to not only facilitate smoother traffic flow but also attract significant investment in housing and commerce along the corridor.
