Islamabad, Sep 8: The federal government has finalized a compulsory “Severance Package” for government employees, high level sources told Bloom Pakistan.
According to sources, this package would be implemented by amending the Civil Servants Act of 1973 so that all government workers will be covered equally and without any special treatment.
An earlier modification that incorporated a Compulsory Retirement Package into the current law was already approved by the Federal Cabinet. The policy focuses on workers who are impacted by government mergers, department dissolutions, and ministry abolitions.
Any federal servant whose job is eliminated will be qualified for the severance benefit under the new rules. After being notified of their termination, workers will have seven days to submit an application to a committee appointed by the prime minister. After receiving the application, the committee will make a decision on the case within 30 days.
The severance package is required, as stated by the federal government. Strangely, under the new regulations, a federal servant’s employment will be terminated if they refuse to accept it. The Cabinet Committee for the Disposal of Legislative Cases also examined and approved this change to the Civil Servants Act.
