ISLAMABAD, August 13, 2025 – The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet, chaired by Federal Minister for Finance Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, has approved a Technical Supplementary Grant of Rs. 2,829 million for the Pakistan Television Corporation (PTVC) to upgrade its English News Channel. The decision aims to improve broadcast quality and expand the channel’s reach to global audiences.
During the meeting, the ECC directed the Ministry to prepare a comprehensive business plan to ensure the channel’s self-sufficiency and reduce its reliance on federal funding in the future.

Key ECC Approvals
Apart from the PTVC grant, the ECC also approved several important initiatives:
- Leather Industry Facilitation: Removal of the requirement for Health Quarantine Certificates for the import and export of leather, enabling improved competitiveness in international markets.
- Climate Change Participation: Approval of a Technical Supplementary Grant for the Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination for FY 2025-26 to support Pakistan’s participation in the 30th Session of the Conference of Parties (COP-30) in Brazil later this year.
- Industrial Development in Karachi: Approval for the development of an Industrial Estate on Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM) land to promote industrial activity, generate employment, and attract investment.

The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari, Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, federal secretaries, and senior officials from various ministries and departments.
