The government has included cyber crimes in the Anti-Money Laundering Act (AMLA) to tighten control over online offenses and strengthen the legal system.

A notification confirmed that the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has been given wider authority. It can now act against cyber terrorism, online fraud, child pornography, digital grooming, and misuse of identity data.

Sharing fake or misleading content on social media will also be treated as an offense under AMLA. Officials added that any money earned through disinformation campaigns on digital platforms will be investigated under the same law.
