The government has initiated steps to provide flood-affected citizens with a one-month exemption on electricity bills.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has instructed the Ministry of Finance to engage the International Monetary Fund (IMF) regarding possible relief measures.

According to sources, the Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Finance to discuss potential assistance with the IMF. Relief will be extended to all flood-affected areas across Pakistan, whether urban or rural.

In addition, the government has decided to formulate a new strategy and policy to control urban flooding. In response to the recent devastating floods nationwide, the Ministry of Climate Change has become actively involved.

Officials from the Ministry of Climate Change stated that the Prime Minister has tasked the ministry with immediate measures to address urban flooding and rampant deforestation. He has also instructed the provinces to develop targets under the Climate Resilience Action Plan.
