Islamabad, Apr 10, 2025: In a crucial meeting with steel industrialists, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, Haroon Akhtar Khan, highlighted the immense potential of Pakistan’s steel industry, stressing the government’s commitment to addressing the sector’s challenges.
Haroon Akhtar Khan began the session by acknowledging the sector’s importance to the national economy and reaffirming the government’s dedication to overcoming obstacles faced by manufacturers.
“Pakistan has an immense potential in the steel industry,” he emphasized, noting the industry’s critical role in driving industrialization and economic growth.
He also expressed a deep understanding of the issues currently plaguing steel producers across the country.

“I am fully aware of the challenges faced by steel manufacturers,” he remarked, underscoring the government’s recognition of the obstacles hindering the industry’s progress.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is reportedly working tirelessly to ensure the prosperity of the nation, with a clear vision for the revival of key industrial sectors, including steel.
“The Prime Minister is working day and night to ensure the country’s prosperity,” Haroon Akhtar Khan affirmed, highlighting the government’s focus on boosting domestic manufacturing, including the steel sector.
Haroon Akhtar Khan further emphasized the government’s proactive stance on addressing the issue of non-functional or “sick” industrial units, making it clear that rehabilitation efforts were among his top priorities.
“Rehabilitation of sick industrial units is my top priority,” he stated, signaling the government’s intent to restore these units to full operational capacity.
To address the financial instability that many steel manufacturers face, he revealed that work is already underway to introduce a new legal framework designed to protect investors and prevent bankruptcy.
“We are working on a law to protect investors and prevent bankruptcy,” he said, stressing the need for a secure investment environment to encourage the growth of the steel sector.
Under the guidance of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the revival of the steel industry will align with the government’s broader vision for industrial growth.
“The steel industry will be revived in line with the Prime Minister’s vision,” Haroon Akhtar Khan noted, underlining the importance of a long-term, sustainable approach to revitalize the sector.
