The Ministry of Commerce (MoC) has issued an SRO, allowing commercial import of up to five five-year-old vehicles with 40 per cent additional duty with immediate effect.

The scheme was earlier approved by the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) in its September 18 meeting chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, and later ratified by the Federal Cabinet.

According to the notification, the import of used cars, vans, trucks, and motorcycles (under PCT headings 8702, 8703, 8704, and 8711) will be allowed until June 30, 2026.

After that, the government may lift the five-year age limit.

The imports will be subject to environmental, safety, and quality checks as prescribed by the Engineering Development Board (EDB).
