Islamabad, July 21, 2025: In a bold move to reinforce Pakistan’s digital defenses, the National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC) has unveiled a transformative cyber strategy focused on shielding federal, provincial, and sensitive state institutions from escalating cyber threats.
According to sources close to the matter, the new framework aims to deliver secure, fast, and resilient IT services to all government bodies. The initiative is a response to the growing need for digital sovereignty and cyber resilience in Pakistan’s critical infrastructure.
Cutting-Edge Firewalls and Real-Time Threat Detection
NTC is deploying advanced next-generation firewalls and border gateway controllers to build a stronger digital shield. These tools will enable real-time monitoring, detection, and neutralization of cyberattacks before they can breach the network.
An official revealed that the cybersecurity model is based on active threat intelligence, offering real-time protection and automatic countermeasures to prevent data breaches and digital espionage.
High-Speed Connectivity with GPON Rollout
To strengthen internet performance, NTC is set to introduce Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) technology across major regions. The first phase will cover Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Multan, Attock, and Dera Ghazi Khan, bringing next-gen 4G internet speed and reliability to critical sites.
This move supports Pakistan’s vision for digital inclusion and a connected government ecosystem.
