Islamabad, May 19, 2025: The federal government is preparing a scheme to offer energy-saving fans to electricity consumers on convenient, interest-free installment plans, according to sources on Monday.
The initiative, which has received approval from the Prime Minister, is likely to be unveiled in the forthcoming federal budget.

Under this arrangement, customers will acquire the energy-saving fans with the backing of banks, and the repayment will be made through their monthly electricity bills.
The shift from traditional AC fans to advanced DC fans is projected to save as much as 5,000 megawatts of power. The plan will also be reviewed in consultation with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
This move is anticipated to ease the financial burden of electricity costs on households.
