Islamabad, Aug 7, 2025: In a major push for digital transformation, the Prime Minister’s Office has made it mandatory for all retail outlets across Pakistan to display the Raast QR code by August 31, 2025. This decision is part of the government’s drive to boost cashless transactions and expand the Raast QR code implementation nationwide.
According to official sources, Prime Minister’s Advisor Syed Tauqeer Ali Shah has issued directives to federal ministries, provincial authorities, and regulatory bodies to take swift action. Compliance with this initiative will now be a key condition for obtaining or renewing business licenses, marking a firm step towards financial digitization.
To make this system fully operational, government departments have been instructed to put enforcement mechanisms in place. Furthermore, regulatory agencies are expected to work in partnership with banks, fintech companies, mobile wallet providers, and all other institutions under the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) to support the onboarding process.
Officials have been urged to coordinate closely with the Prime Minister’s Office and the SBP to ensure technical readiness, smooth implementation, and regular progress reporting. This unified approach is expected to make Raast QR code adoption more efficient and widespread, especially for small businesses and local retailers.
