Islamabad, May 14, 2025: In a move that will bring relief to consumers, petroleum prices in Pakistan are expected to decrease by Rs. 3.5 to Rs. 7 per litre.
This reduction follows recent fluctuations in the global oil market and a minor dip in import premiums, providing some breathing space for Pakistani motorists.
The price of petrol could see a reduction of up to Rs. 3.5 per litre, bringing it down from Rs. 252.63 to Rs. 249.13.
Diesel, which currently costs Rs. 256.64 per litre, may experience a steeper drop, falling by as much as Rs. 7, bringing the new price to Rs. 249.64 per litre.
This adjustment follows a price cut in April, when petrol and high-speed diesel prices were reduced by Rs. 2 per litre.
However, it is important to note that prior to this, the federal government had kept the rates unchanged for a significant period.
The recent price fluctuations are indicative of the ongoing volatility in global oil markets, which directly impacts local fuel prices.

The reduced import premiums have also contributed to the price drop, sparking optimism for the public.
If the price changes are approved, they could mark a welcome relief for the average Pakistani consumer, who has been grappling with rising fuel costs in recent months.
