Islamabad: Government has decided to completely digitize the country’s entire economic landscape, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif after taking this decision in a high level meeting has assigned the tasks to relevant ministries and institutions.
This will help improve the country’s economy and would eliminate the informal economy is a key component of the government’s reform agenda, Prime Minister remarked in the meeting.
He also said that government would be implementing reforms at the institutional level so that the sustainable policy change and that could stay long-lasting.
The Prime Minister directed the relevant authorities to immediately establish a dynamic working group for the digitization of the country’s economy.
The system is being developed on modern lines for the development of Pakistan, said the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The Prime Minister appreciated the successful system of the digital wallet for the delivery of the Ramadan package and gave instructions to use it in more sectors.
A review meeting on the digitization of the country’s economy was held in Islamabad Thursday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.
The meeting was informed that recently, on the instructions of the Prime Minister, the Ramadan package was delivered to the people in a completely digital manner.
The meeting was briefed on the ongoing steps for the digitization of the economy and future steps and suggestions.
150 Govt Departments Linked
The meeting was informed that an ICT application has been launched in Islamabad, in which more than 150 government services are available.
The meeting was further informed that the volume of payments through Raast Gateway has increased significantly.

While the government, in collaboration with the State Bank, is accelerating steps to increase its use in daily transactions.
The meeting was also briefed on the government’s 5-point action plan.
The meeting was informed that the government is ensuring the collection of digital payments, providing various facilities to buyers and businesses to encourage digital payments as opposed to cash.
This would help completely digitizing the government payments and raising awareness in this regard, as well as the action plan for monitoring data of the system.
The meeting was also told that all official payments of the federal government, including salaries and other billings, are being made under the digital system.

The Prime Minister directed to immediately form a working group to implement and monitor all these measures.
The meeting was attended by Federal Ministers Ahad Khan Cheema, Ali Pervaiz Malik, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Minister of State Bilal Azhar Kayani, Governor State Bank Jamil Ahmed and relevant senior officials.
