Islamabad, 16 Apr 2025: Islamabad IT Park Inaugurate Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, has officially announced that the Islamabad IT Park will be inaugurated on August 14, with the Karachi IT Park scheduled to follow soon after.

While speaking at the Islamabad Business Summit, the minister highlighted a series of forward-looking strategies designed to strengthen Pakistan’s digital infrastructure.

She emphasized that the government is actively converting underutilized public properties into technology hubs, with plans to establish 250 employment facilitation centers across the nation to uplift industrial productivity and economic participation.

She noted that digital transformation is reshaping the landscape of essential sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, education, commerce, and manufacturing.

The minister pointed out that digital platforms now dominate daily communication and interactions.

With the global environment across economic, political, and climate spheres rapidly evolving, she stressed that failing to adapt to technological advancements, particularly artificial intelligence, could leave Pakistan behind in the global race.

Touching upon economic returns, the minister shared an impressive insight: every dollar invested in marketing Pakistan results in a return of $49.

Despite facing budgetary limitations, the government remains committed to enhancing IT-related exports, setting an ambitious target of reaching $25 billion in the near future.

In a major development, she disclosed that Pakistan, in collaboration with Saudi Arabia, will be hosting a Digital Foreign Investment Summit on April 28 and 29, inviting global investors and partners.

Shaza Fatima further revealed the introduction of a pilot Smart Islamabad project, which includes the launch of a Super App aimed at digitizing public services.

This application will allow seamless access to permits and business registrations. Taking cues from Shenzhen, China, she shared that Islamabad will soon see a centralized business facilitation center where all government departments will work under a single roof ensuring faster, more efficient service delivery.

Stressing the importance of human capital, she asserted that empowering the youth with digital skills, innovation spaces, and support systems is one of the most impactful investments the government can make.
