Islamabad, 21 May, 2025:Low cost housing project development was the central focus of a high-level review session held in Islamabad today, led by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif. The meeting evaluated progress on initiatives designed to provide affordable housing solutions to citizens.

Reaffirming the government’s unwavering commitment, the Prime Minister emphasized that enabling citizens to own homes through low cost housing project schemes is a national priority. He noted that expanding such projects would not only address the housing shortage but also stimulate economic growth and job creation across the country.

During the session, the Prime Minister instructed the task force—working jointly with the Ministry of Finance and financial institutions—to swiftly present actionable recommendations for funding these initiatives. He directed that these proposals be incorporated into the upcoming federal budget.

The meeting also reviewed the legislative developments critical to housing sector reform. Officials informed that final amendments to the Condominium Act 2025 and Foreclosure Law are underway. Once approved, these legal changes will simplify access to loans, paving the way for easier home ownership under low cost housing project models.

Updates were also shared on the broader construction sector’s progress, with particular emphasis on ongoing and upcoming affordable housing schemes. The Prime Minister reiterated the sector’s vital role in ensuring long-term economic stability.

Federal Ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Riaz Hussain Pirzada, Ahad Khan Cheema, Muhammad Aurangzeb, Ali Pervaiz Malik, along with the Chairman FBR and other senior officials, participated in the meeting.
