Greek Ambassador Eleni Pouríchi on Wednesday said Greece is working to simplify visa procedures for Pakistani citizens, encourage academic exchanges, and explore new avenues for technical cooperation and skilled workforce migration.

She reaffirmed Greece’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and appreciated the constructive engagement with Pakistani lawmakers. The ambassador highlighted Greece’s support for international law and peaceful resolution of disputes, noting potential collaboration in national security, migration management, climate change, and education.

Ambassador Pouríchi also underscored the scope for increased trade and investment, particularly in agriculture, food processing, and olive cultivation, and urged closer interaction between business communities from both sides.

She conveyed these views during a meeting of the Pakistan-Greece Parliamentary Friendship Group at the Parliament House, chaired by Senator Rubina Qaimkhani. Both sides reiterated the enduring friendship and cooperative relations between Pakistan and Greece.

Senator Qaimkhani stressed the need to enhance parliamentary exchanges to deepen mutual understanding, recalling that the last high-level visit took place in 2006. She highlighted the positive role of the Pakistani community in Greece, whose contributions continue to serve as a link between the two states. She also pointed to the shared challenge of irregular migration and emphasized the importance of safe, legal, and regulated pathways for employment, appreciating Greece’s efforts to integrate Pakistani workers.

Senator Fawzia Arshad suggested strengthening cooperation in agriculture, digital innovation, and education.
