Islamabad, May 14, 2025: As excitement for GTA 6 continues to build, GTA fans may soon have something else to look forward to—a remastered version of GTA 4.
While Rockstar Games has not yet made an official announcement, insider reports suggest that the classic title could make a return to modern platforms as early as 2025.
This move could bridge the gap until the long-awaited launch of GTA 6.
According to a well-known Grand Theft Auto insider, Tez2, Rockstar is actively working on a GTA 4 port for current-gen consoles like PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
The insider revealed on the GTA forums that if all goes according to Rockstar’s internal timeline, the remaster could be released before the end of 2025.
This update comes on the heels of Rockstar’s controversial takedown of the fan-made Liberty City Preservation Project mod—a move that now makes sense, given the potential plans for an official relaunch.
In the past, Rockstar has often removed fan mods that conflict with its upcoming releases, indicating that this project may indeed be on the horizon.
The remaster of GTA 4 would bring players back to Liberty City, Rockstar’s gritty reimagining of New York City, to relive the dark and compelling journey of Niko Bellic, an Eastern European immigrant chasing the American dream through the city’s criminal underworld.

Tez2 also hinted that Max Payne 3 might receive a similar treatment, but only after the GTA 4 project wraps up.
There’s still uncertainty around whether Nintendo Switch—or its rumored successor—will be part of the supported platforms.
For players, the potential to run GTA 4 at a smooth 60FPS with updated visuals on modern hardware is an enticing prospect.
The PC version is especially expected to benefit from technical upgrades, as the original build was often criticized for poor performance.
While Rockstar has yet to confirm the GTA 4 remaster, the signs are pointing toward a nostalgic comeback.
Could this be the perfect warm-up before the launch of GTA 6? Stay tuned for official updates—and in the meantime, tell us: would you replay GTA 4 if it came out remastered for PS5 and Xbox Series X? Let us know in the comments!
