Islamabad, June 4, 2025: In a rain-affected third One Day International at The Oval, spinner Gudakesh Motie played a crucial late-innings to help West Indies gave a target of 246 runs for England after the match was reduced to 40 overs per side.

West Indies began their innings under pressure and suffered an early collapse at 28 for 3. Sherfane alongside Keacy Carty added 55 runs for the fourth wicket. However, the game was halted for over an hour and a half due to rain.

Rutherford however remained composed after the interruption and scored 70 off 71 balls. His innings featured nine boundaries and two sixes. Following Rutherford’s dismissal, Gudakesh Motie stepped up and sent the ball sailing over deep midwicket for six. He and Alzarri Joseph added 91 runs in just 68 deliveries for the eighth wicket.

Motie remained unbeaten on 63 from 54 balls, smashing five fours and three sixes. This marked his second ODI half-century and his first against England. Joseph played a supporting role in the partnership, helping West Indies post a challenging 246-run target.

Statistically, Gudakesh Motie now has 296 runs in 28 ODIs and continues to prove his worth as a reliable lower-order batsman.

The revised target sets up a competitive chase for England as they look to wrap up the series in London.
