Islamabad, Aug 14, 2025: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has formed a 13-member committee to tackle Gwadar electricity and water issues permanently. The group will meet tomorrow (Friday) to discuss ongoing shortages and prepare quick and long-term solutions for the city and district.

According to an official notice, the committee will submit its report to the prime minister soon after the meeting. The members have been instructed to propose an immediate fix within four to five days to ensure uninterrupted water supply to Gwadar city.

This includes using the 7.5 MGD water supply scheme and the 1.2 MGD seawater desalination plant. A mid-term plan, expected to be completed within four to five months, will also be drafted to provide both continuous water and stable power to Gwadar district.

Both plans must clearly define responsibilities for ministers and executing agencies with fixed deadlines.
