Islamabad, May 26, 2025: The General Authority overseeing the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque has confirmed that the Mataf area, the open courtyard surrounding the Holy Kaaba where pilgrims perform Tawaf, is now completely prepared to receive a record-breaking number of worshippers during this year’s Hajj pilgrimage.
According to the authority, the Mataf is now capable of accommodating up to 107,000 pilgrims per hour.
In coordination with relevant departments, Saudi officials have made significant improvements to entryways, internal routes, and crowd control systems to ensure smooth and organized movement for the massive arrival of pilgrims.

Numerous primary and secondary gates leading into the Mataf have been allocated solely for pilgrims. Additionally, certain pathways have been set aside for emergency access and service staffs.
These preparations form part of an extensive plan designed to maintain the safety, comfort, and efficient flow of all individuals participating in Hajj rituals.

This announcement comes as the number of foreign pilgrims entering the Kingdom continues to grow. As of Friday, the General Directorate of Passports reported that 890,883 pilgrims have arrived in Saudi Arabia for Hajj 1446H. This figure includes 846,415 arriving by air, 41,646 by land, and 2,822 via sea routes.
