JEDDAH 28, May 2025: In a heartwarming turn of events that’s capturing global attention, a Libyan pilgrim, Amer Mahdi Mansour Gaddafi, became an overnight sensation on social media after a flight returned twice—ultimately ensuring he could fulfill his lifelong dream of performing Hajj in Saudi Arabia.
The emotional saga began when Gaddafi was denied boarding at the airport due to a sudden security issue with his passport. As the flight departed without him, Gaddafi stayed behind at the terminal, unwavering in his commitment.
“I will not leave without performing Hajj,” he reportedly declared—an act of faith that would soon shape an extraordinary journey.
What happened next felt like divine intervention. The plane experienced a technical issue shortly after takeoff and had to return to the airport. Airport officials requested that Gaddafi be allowed to board. However, the pilot refused, and the aircraft departed again—still without him.
Then, fate struck once more. A second mechanical fault grounded the plane again. This time, the pilot made an unexpected move: he declared that the flight would not proceed unless Amer Mahdi Gaddafi was allowed to board. And just like that, the determined pilgrim finally found his seat on the aircraft bound for Makkah.
