It is part of their operational plan to ensure interrupted water supply, not only to Mecca but also to Mina, Arafat and Muzdalifah. International media reports say that daily water pumping is “expected to average 750,000 cubic metres, rising to over one million cubic metres on Arafat Day and during Eid”.

During the last 18 months, major water infrastructure has been developed and completed in Mecca and the holy sites, including but not limited to water distribution networks, storage facilities, pumping stations and waste treatment plants.

The Saudi Water Authority has also increased the number of field inspections, ahead of Hajj 2025. Reports show that the authority has conducted over 2,000 hours of supervision on multiple sites in all three Hajj locations.

Hajj 2025 is set to commence from June 4 in Saudi Arabia, with the day of Arafat falling on June 5.

The uninterrupted water supply is also essential in light of the weather forecast during Hajj. Heat During Hajj has become a central concern as Saudi Arabia’s National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) warned of exceptionally high temperatures expected during this year’s Hajj.
