Islamabad, 12 May,2025: Terrence Brunk, better known in the wrestling world as Sabu, has died at the age of 60, according to PWInsider. As of now, no details have been shared regarding the cause or exact time of his death.

His passing comes just weeks after what would become his final match, where he defeated Joey Janela in the main event of Spring Break 9 during WrestleMania weekend.

Sabu, who began wrestling in 1985, was trained by his uncle, Ed Farhat—famous to fans as The Sheik.

Influenced by his uncle’s violent, theatrical style, Sabu quickly made a name for himself across various U.S. wrestling territories before finding international fame in Japan’s Frontier Martial-Arts Wrestling (FMW), a promotion known for its brutal and unconventional matches.

He became a household name in the 1990s through his work with Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW).

Known for high-risk maneuvers and a fearless approach in the ring, Sabu gained widespread attention for his intense rivalries with Rob Van Dam and Taz. His performances helped define the hardcore wrestling genre and influenced a generation of performers.

Sabu also spent time with World Championship Wrestling (WCW) and later with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), where he competed during the company’s ECW relaunch in 2006.

One of his most notable WWE matches came against John Cena at the Vengeance pay-per-view. He was released from WWE in 2007 but continued wrestling on the independent scene, eventually retiring in April 2025.

Throughout his four-decade-long career, Sabu was known not just for the risks he took, but for pushing the boundaries of what professional wrestling could be.

Often wrestling through injuries and using tables, chairs, and barbed wire as part of his storytelling, he became a cult figure among fans of hardcore wrestling.
