Islamabad, Nov 11: During the second ODI game of the three-match series against Australia at Adelaide Oval on Friday, pacer Haris Rauf and captain Mohammad Rizwan achieved several ODI career milestones.
Haris Rauf after having gone for five wickets in Australian team’s innings now has 77 wickets in 39 matches of ODI careers.
This achievement makes him the leading Pakistani bowler in terms of wickets in their first 39 ODIs and surpassing spinner Saqlain Mushtaq 76 wickets and Shaheen Shah Afridi secure 76 wickets also in the same 39 ODIs.
Mitchell Starc out of Australia is the overall record holder of 79 wickets in first 39 ODI’s only.
The only pacer since then who has claimed more wickets in the format of one-day internationals is Bilal Khan of Oman, who has taken 83 wickets, albeit for Oman, an associate member nation.
On the other hand, Rizwan become one of few wicket-keeper batsmen who managed to take six catches in the same ODI.
Other members of this elite group are Australia’s Adam Gilchrist, South Africa’s Mark Boucher and Quinton de Kock, England’s Alec Stewart and Matt Prior, Scotland’s Matthew Cross and Pakistan’s Sarfaraz Ahmed.
But Rizwan could not capitalize on the chance to get that record as he dropped Adam Zampa of Naseem shah in the last over of the 34th.
Australian captain Cummins said he would have done the same had he won the toss.
He said Sean Abbott was dropped out and Hazlewood brought back as the pitch here has lots of grass on it and bounce. “It’s always great to play here.”
