Islamabad, Oct 26: Renowned Indian cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle has weighed in on India’s ongoing struggles against New Zealand at home which has opened the doors to their first Test series loss at their own grounds in 12 years.
Bhogle spoke about the team on his social media account of X (formerly Twitter) underlining the uphill task that lies ahead for India.
“I greatly fear India’s proud unbeaten home streak is over,” Bhogle remarked, “If New Zealand go 2-0 up, it will rank alongside Sri Lanka’s improbable win over South Africa a few years back as one of the most unexpected away victories” he added.
His comments were made following the second Day’s play between India and New Zealand in the Pune Test.
Already 1-0 down in the series, Indian batters struggled against Mitchell Santner and Glenn Phillips getting bowled out for 156 before the visitors raced to a 301-run lead before the third day.
Simon Doull had a similar reaction to India’s play criticising their approach to playing spin.
However, Indian batters seem to have listened to the critique led by Harsha Bhogle and his cooperative as they currently (lunch break on day 3) sit 81/1 in their improbable chase of 359. Kiwis will make history with a win as they have never beaten India away from home in a bilateral test series
