Islamabad, 16 April 2025: Hasan Ali has equaled the long-standing record of Wahab Riaz for the most wickets in Pakistan Super League (PSL) history — but in fewer innings.
The milestone came during the high-octane clash between Karachi Kings and Lahore Qalandars at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi.
Hasan ended the match with impressive figures of 4 for 28 in his four-over spell. His performance played a key role in dismantling the opposition.
Hasan dismissed Mohammad Naeem (7), Abdullah Shafique (6), Fakhar Zaman (76 off 47 balls), and Sam Billings (19 off 10), taking his overall PSL tally to 113 wickets.

With this spell, the 30-year-old fast bowler now shares the top spot on the all-time leading wicket-takers list alongside former cricketer Wahab Riaz.
However, the achievement of the experienced cricketer stands out as he reached the mark in just 83 innings, while Wahab Riaz had reached in 87.
After an expensive spell against Multan Sultans, Hasan bounced back in his next match, regaining his rhythm.
Player | Wickets | Innings |
---|---|---|
Hasan Ali | 113 | 83 |
Wahab Riaz | 113 | 87 |
Shaheen Shah Afridi | 107 | 74 |
Shadab Khan | 96 | 85 |
Faheem Ashraf | 79 | 72 |
The early breakthroughs from Hasan Ali have boosted Karachi Kins this season, and continued form could make him PSL’s top wicket-taker.

His journey back to form is being closely followed by fans and analysts alike, especially as Karachi Kings look to bounce back after a challenging start to their campaign.
earlier this month, Hasan Ali said that Pakistan Super League (PSL) could help restore the faith of fans in cricket following a difficult period.
While addressing a press conference, Hasan had acknowledged growing frustration among supporters due to the recent struggles in international cricket.
The right-arm pacer pointed out that the poor performance of the national side has had a broader impact on cricket culture in the country.
