Islamabad, Aug 12, 2025: Pakistan in search of a safe batsman who bat in the modern style, show the signs of promise in a player like Hasan Nawaz whose first appearance in international cricket has caught the eye. Nonetheless, former Test opener Sadiq Mohammad is of the view that there are still some areas on his technique that need some improvement before the young player makes it to the elite stage.

The right-handed batsman aged 22 years impressed in ODI cricket taking the man of the match prize on his debut match where he hit the resilient unbeaten 63 runs to enable Pakistan to beat the West Indies in a five-wicket triumph. He was calm in his second outing producing an unbeaten 36 in difficult weather.

Sadiq emphasised that although Nawaz is capable to clear the ropes, top level success requires more than big hitting. Sadiq said, “He needs to improve his ground-play, which should be based on strokes in front of the square.” It is necessary to develop more control in the wrists.
