Islamabad, 21 March 2025: Hasan Nawaz delivered a stunning performance in the third T20I against New Zealand at Eden Park, smashing a 44-ball century to lead his team to a dominant nine-wicket victory.
His knock not only powered Pakistan to a successful chase of 205 but also set multiple records.
Batting first, New Zealand posted a formidable total of 204 before being bowled out. Mark Chapman’s aggressive 94-run innings off 44 balls provided the home side with a strong foundation.
However, Pakistan responded emphatically, reaching the target with 24 balls to spare.
Hasan, who had struggled in his first two T20I outings with consecutive ducks, turned his fortunes around with a historic century—the fastest by any Pakistani in T20 internationals. His 44-ball ton surpassed Babar Azam’s previous record of 49 balls, achieved against South Africa in 2021.
Pakistan’s chase began explosively, with Hasan Nawaz and Mohammad Haris putting up a rapid 74-run opening stand.
Haris contributed 41 runs from 20 balls before falling to Jacob Duffy. Despite the early loss, Pakistan registered their highest-ever powerplay score of 75/1 and reached 124/1 at the 10-over mark, setting another national record.
Captain Salman Ali Agha provided crucial support, adding an unbeaten 51 off 31 deliveries. His partnership of 133 runs with Hasan Nawaz ensured Pakistan’s second-highest successful run chase in T20Is.
Additionally, the match saw a total of 411 runs scored, making it the highest match aggregate in a T20I encounter between Pakistan and New Zealand.
Pakistan’s emphatic win keeps them alive in the five-match series, with Hasan Nawaz’s remarkable innings standing out as a defining moment.
