Islamabad, June 10, 2025: The Meteorological Department has reported that most parts of Balochistan are experiencing hot and dry weather, while the plains are under the grip of an intense heatwave.
In Quetta, the maximum temperature recorded was 36°C, while Qalat saw 31°C. Other cities also faced scorching temperatures:
- Ziarat recorded 27°C,
- Zhob reached 39°C,
- Sibi sizzled at 48°C,
- Turbat recorded 43°C,
- Nokundi reached 42°C,
- Chaman stood at 38°C,
- Gwadar saw 35°C,
- and Jiwani recorded 34°C.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a Severe Heatwave Alert for the next three days (Tuesday to Thursday). The ongoing heatwave is likely to persist across Islamabad, Punjab, upper and central Sindh, plain areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Balochistan.
Daytime temperatures are expected to remain extremely high, ranging from 42°C to 49°C, particularly during peak sunshine hours (11:00 AM to 4:00 PM).
According to the Met Office, a severe heatwave is expected to persist across the country until Thursday. From today until June 12, daytime temperatures in upper regions — including Central/Upper Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan — are likely to remain 5°C to 7°C above normal. In southern regions — including Upper/Central Sindh, Southern Punjab, and Balochistan — temperatures are expected to stay 4°C to 6°C higher than usual.
Citizens are advised to take safety precautions during this period, especially by avoiding direct sunlight between 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM and staying hydrated.

Tuesday & Wednesday (General):
Most parts of the country will remain hot and dry, with very hot conditions expected in plains. However, in the evening and night, isolated areas of Gilgit-Baltistan may experience thunderstorms and light rain.
Islamabad:
- Tuesday & Wednesday: Hot and dry weather with very hot daytime conditions. Strong winds are likely during the day.
Punjab:
- Tuesday & Wednesday: Most districts will remain hot and dry, especially in the plains. Dusty winds are expected in the afternoon.
Sindh:
- Tuesday & Wednesday: Extremely hot and dry weather expected across most districts. Dusty winds likely.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa:
- Tuesday & Wednesday: Hot and dry weather in most districts with very hot conditions in the plains. In the evening or night, partly cloudy skies and light rain are possible in upper districts including Chitral and Dir.
Balochistan:
- Tuesday & Wednesday: Hot and dry conditions will prevail in most districts, especially in the plains. Dusty winds expected.
Gilgit-Baltistan:
- Tuesday & Wednesday: Warm daytime temperatures with partly cloudy skies during the evening/night. Light rain with thunder and strong winds may occur at some locations.
Kashmir:
- Tuesday & Wednesday: Hot and dry weather is expected to persist.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department urges the public to remain cautious, avoid unnecessary exposure to heat, and ensure frequent water intake to prevent heat-related illnesses.
Warning for the Public:
The general public—especially children, women, and senior citizens—are strongly advised to take precautions:
- Avoid going out in direct sunlight during 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
- Stay indoors as much as possible.
- Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated.
The PMD urges everyone to remain vigilant and prioritize their health and safety during this extreme weather event.
