Heavy rainfall lashed the federal capital on Monday evening, bringing traffic to a standstill on major roads.

The downpour disrupted movement along key arteries, including Srinagar Highway, Faizabad Interchange, and Blue Area. The rains coincided with the evening rush hour, worsening the traffic situation.

The rain was so heavy that some social media users speculated that it could be potential cloud burst event. However, the weather department has not issued any statement regarding it.

The PMD had also forecast heavy rainfall on September 1, which could trigger flash floods in streams and nullahs of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeast Punjab, Kashmir, and the hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan.
