Islamabad, Dec 11: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) and Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) signed an MoU to foster collaboration in R&D activities, ICT curriculum development, academia-industry linkages, and capacity building. The agreement aims to enhance digital education while combating social media misuse in the higher education sector.
Chairman HEC Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed and Chairman PTA Maj. Gen. (R) Hafeez Ur Rehman emphasized the need for awareness campaigns to curb disinformation and hate speech on social media. They also committed to training youth in the constructive use of modern internet technologies.
The partnership includes efforts to extend connectivity and quality education to remote areas like Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu Kashmir. HEC highlighted recent technological initiatives, including Data Centers, Digital Classrooms, and Blockchain Systems, that aim to revolutionize education in Pakistan.
This collaboration underscores the shared vision of advancing education, research, and innovation through technology. Both sides reiterated their commitment to future initiatives for empowering youth and achieving significant milestones in digital transformation.
