The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan has officially launched Phase III of the Allama Muhammad Iqbal Scholarships for Afghan Nationals, offering 4,500 fully funded scholarships to Afghan students. This initiative aims to strengthen Pakistan-Afghanistan bilateral ties while providing Afghan youth with opportunities to pursue higher education in leading Pakistani universities.
Scholarship Coverage
The Allama Iqbal Scholarships for Afghan Students will cover:
- Living allowance
- Book allowance
- Hostel dues
- University tuition fee
- Travelling allowance (once during the study period)
Fields of Study
Students can apply for multiple disciplines including:
- Medicine
- Engineering
- Agriculture
- Management Sciences
- Social Sciences
- Computer Science
Eligibility Criteria
Undergraduate Program
- Completed 12 years of education or equivalent
- Age: 17–23 years
- Minimum marks: 60% (general), 65% (Medical & Engineering)
- Must meet PM&DC and PEC requirements
Master’s Program
- Completed 16 years of education
- Age limit: 35 years
- Minimum 2.5 CGPA out of 4.0
Ph.D. Program
- Completed 18 years of education (MS/MPhil)
- Age limit: 35 years (Non-Faculty), 40 years (Faculty)
- Minimum 3.0 CGPA out of 4.0
- Must have studied the same subject in MS/MPhil
Important Notes
- Scholarships will be awarded strictly on merit.
- Applicants with foreign qualifications must submit IBCC/HEC equivalence certificates.
- MS/PhD scholarships will not be granted in Clinical Medical Sciences.
- Applicants already availing other HEC/Government scholarships are ineligible.
- Awardees must return to Afghanistan after completing their degrees.

- Hard copy applications will not be accepted.
