Adventure lovers will soon get the chance to explore the Munro Hiking Trail in Mansehra, as officials confirmed on Wednesday that the historic route is set to reopen for trekkers.
The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tourism Department and the KP Forest Department, with participation from the KP Culture and Tourism Authority.
Situated near Jabouri in Mansehra district, the trail is regarded as one of the most scenic paths in northern Pakistan. It was originally developed between 1900 and 1905 by A.V. Munro, a British-era Forest Conservator, as a horse track connecting Kund to Kamal Ban in Naran Valley. The route cuts through the rugged landscapes dividing the Siran and Kaghan valleys.
