Islamabad, Sep 1: The first-ever workshop on “Space Law and Policy” in Pakistan will be held on September 3–4, by the National Center of GIS and Space Applications (NCGSA) and the Institute of Space Technology (IST).
The NCGSA claims that this groundbreaking conference, which will concentrate on the important and developing fields of space law and policy, will be the first of its type in the nation. Given the growing significance of space operations in international geopolitics and national security, the goal of this course is to provide participants with the skills necessary to successfully traverse the intricate legal and regulatory environments that regulate space, resource people from well-known institutions such as Asia-Pacific Space Cooperation Organization (APSCO), China; National Defense University (NDU), Pakistan; Pakistan Space Activities Regulatory Board (PSARB); Access Partnership, Singapore;
During the two-day session, and the National Center for Cyber Security (NCCS), Pakistan, will impart their knowledge and perspectives. International space treaties and agreements, space governance and regulatory frameworks, Pakistan’s national space policy, space diplomacy, liability and insurance in space activities, and space sustainability which focuses on environmental preservation and debris removal are among the main subjects covered on the agenda.
The workshop will also cover the increasingly important topics of cyber security and space security, highlighting the interrelated problems at the center of current debates over space law and policy. This historic occasion, which is in line with the goals of the recently adopted National Space Policy, signifies a major advancement for Pakistan in the international space community.
It puts the nation in a position to actively participate in and contribute to international space law and policy, encouraging a lively intellectual exchange and laying the groundwork for upcoming advancements in this crucial area.
