Islamabad, 15 May, 2025: As part of the traditional preparations for the Hajj season 1446 AH, General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s (PBUH) Mosque has raised the lower part of the Holy Kaaba’s Kiswa by three meters.
The process began with the careful dismantling of the lower parts of the Kiswa, and separation of its corners. Once raised to required height, the uncovered area is draped with a two meter white cotton fabric on all four sides.

Additionally, the lanterns around the Kaaba are also restored to their designated spots.
This yearly practice is intended to preserve the Kiswa and to protect it from touch or damage, especially during the Hajj season when pilgrims perform Tawaf in large numbers close to the Kaaba.
The operation was carried out by trained and experienced team, according to detail protocols that respect the sanctity of the holy place. High safety standards and professional precision were maintained throughout the task.

Raising the Kiswa is one of many organized efforts aimed at ensuring a peaceful and spiritually uplifting environment for pilgrims.
Officials emphasised that this tradition reflects the extensive planning and preparation of the authorities to welcome millions of pilgrims.
It is a step to ensure the comfort and safety of pilgrims and to create a spiritual atmosphere for performing the Hajj rituals with ease and tranquility.
