Islamabad, June 16, 2025: The live-action version of How to Train Your Dragon, released by Universal Pictures, has made a remarkable start at cinemas, earning more than any past installment of the series during its first weekend.

Drawing strength from large-screen formats, loyal fans, and strong turnout, the film collected $83.7 million in the United States and Canada, going well above the expected range of $65 to $75 million.

Globally, the remake added another $114.1 million from overseas, raising its total to $197.8 million within its opening days—outpacing earlier predictions of a $175 to $185 million worldwide debut.

The new film has outshined the animated originals in terms of opening earnings. The first movie from 2010 earned $43.7 million, the second in 2014 took in $49.5 million, and The Hidden World from 2019 had the series’ previous best with $55 million. The 2025 version has now topped that mark by more than 50 percent, claiming the best opening in the franchise’s history.
