The Hub Power Company Limited (PSX: HUBC) posted a profit after tax of Rs. 13.28 billion for the quarter ended September 30, 2025, marking a 35 percent decline compared to Rs. 20.31 billion in the same period last year.

Earnings per share fell 39 percent to Rs. 8.96, down from Rs. 14.74 in the first quarter of FY25. The company announced a dividend of Rs. 5 per share.

Revenue from contracts with customers dropped 46 percent year-on-year to Rs. 17.4 billion from Rs. 32.04 billion, reflecting a sharp drop in power generation and dispatch levels. Cost of revenue declined 30 percent to Rs. 9.81 billion from Rs. 13.99 billion.

As a result, gross profit contracted 58 percent to Rs. 7.59 billion compared to Rs. 18.05 billion in the same quarter last year. The gross margin slipped to 43.6 percent from 56.3 percent, indicating notable margin pressure despite lower operating costs.

General and administrative expenses increased 43 percent to Rs. 622.7 million from Rs. 436.6 million. Other income rose 26 percent to Rs. 1.32 billion from Rs. 1.05 billion. Other operating expenses amounted to Rs. 119.5 million, compared to none in the corresponding period.

Profit from operations came in at Rs. 8.16 billion, down 56 percent from Rs. 18.66 billion a year earlier.
Finance costs fell 54 percent to Rs. 2.5 billion from Rs. 5.46 billion, providing notable support to profitability.

Profit before taxation from continuing operations stood at Rs. 16.46 billion, lower by 30 percent compared to Rs. 23.54 billion in the previous year. Tax expenses increased 7 percent to Rs. 3.18 billion from Rs. 2.98 billion.

Profit from continuing operations declined 35 percent to Rs. 13.28 billion, compared to Rs. 20.56 billion last year. The prior year also included a loss from discontinued operations of Rs. 248.5 million, which did not recur this quarter.

The company concluded the first quarter of FY26 with a net profit of Rs. 13.28 billion.
