Islamabad, Sep 2: To improve the management of universities around the province, the Punjab government has started the process of selecting 400 principals for public colleges.
Both male and female candidates are welcome to apply through the online portal that the Higher Education Department (HED) has opened for applications for these esteemed jobs. The gateway went live on August 30 and will be accessible until September 10 at 5 p.m.
In order to guarantee an open and merit-based procedure, the HED has set explicit standards for the principal selection process.
Candidates will be scored on a number of criteria, including their educational background (10 points) and annual confidential reports (ACRs), which are worth 20 points, in accordance with the standards that Dawn obtained. The following will get you extra points: results (10 points), the interview (10 points), college postings (10 points), seniority (5 points), administrative experience (20 points), training workshops (5 points), and length of service (10 points).
For each position, the interview panel will shortlist the top three applicants; the ultimate decision will be made after a thorough analysis of each applicant’s service history.
The HED has mandated that only individual with spotless service records—free from fines or pending inquiries—will be given consideration for these administrative positions in order to uphold high standards for leadership. A principal’s appointment will normally last three years, subject to requirements related to administration and performance. Nonetheless, the department is still able to terminate any appointment at any time for administrative reasons.
Applicants who have served within the last two years are not eligible to apply for the role of principal. Furthermore, officers who are presently employed in administrative capacities will not be qualified until their current term is less than three months away.
HED has further said that teachers and librarians with grades below the position for which they are applying would not be accepted, with the exception of associate’s and graduate school applicants in specific circumstances.
those in male colleges are open to male officers, whereas those in female colleges are open to female officers. Both male and female officers are eligible to apply for coeducational institutions; candidates who fit the grade level of the post will be given precedence, without sacrificing overall merit.
Applicants are invited to apply if they are qualified members of the teaching staff at public colleges and if they currently occupy administrative roles in the Higher Education Department and Directorate of Public Instruction (DPI).
Applications must be submitted through the HED Punjab Mobile Application, available for download from the Google Play Store. The department has stressed that no manual or late applications will be considered, and any application lacking essential details or containing false information will be automatically disqualified from the shortlisting process.
