Islamabad, Sep 26: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has inaugurated five new hybrid double-decker buses aimed at promoting eco-friendly tourism in the province. This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance metropolitan tourism in Lahore and beyond.
Details of the Initiative
- The new hybrid buses will operate on various routes in Lahore, with three buses specifically connecting passengers from Gaddafi Stadium to key tourist attractions across the city.
- Plans are in place to expand this service, with one bus each set to be introduced in Bahawalpur and Rawalpindi. Additionally, double-decker bus services will be launched in Multan and Faisalabad to further enhance tourism efforts.
Following the inauguration, CM Maryam Nawaz took a ride on one of the buses to inspect its features and experience the service firsthand.
Commitment to Cleanliness and Sustainability
On September 18, CM Maryam Nawaz announced the implementation of durable, environment-friendly measures under the Suthra Punjab Programme, aimed at improving cleanliness throughout the province. For the first time, this initiative will include large-scale cleaning efforts in rural areas.
Emphasizing the importance of proper waste disposal practices, the Chief Minister called for a collective shift away from plastic usage, which significantly contributes to pollution in the region. This move aims to foster a cleaner and more sustainable environment for all residents and visitors in Punjab.
