Islamabad, Oct 17: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has targeted Iftikhar Ahmed, and penalized by PCB due to its disciplinary arrow during the current Presidents Cup..
They listed Iftikhar for captaining a WAPDA team as guilty of a level 1 violation of the PCB Code of Conduct. For Players and Player Support Personnel for dissenting an umpire following a refused leg-before-wicket decision during his team’s bowling line-up.
The unfortunate event occurred during the WAPDA first semi-final of the President’s Cup One-Day 2024-25 at Jinnah Stadium. Gujranwala against the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) on Sunday.
Umpire Asif and Zulfiqar Jan lodged charges for breach of article 2.8 of the PCB code, leading to Iftikhar Ahmed being penalized by PCB. Match referee Iqbal Sheikh conducted the hearing and fined him 50 percent of his match fees. Iftikhar agreed to the charge and the fine without further protest.
The news comes as another blow for the 34-year-old whose side went on to lose the semifinal by 74 runs.
