The Jhelum Zone of the Regional Tax Office in Rawalpindi destroyed a significant quantity of illicit, smuggled, and counterfeit cigarettes valued at Rs 202 million, with evaded duties amounting to Rs 147.15 million, according to a press release.
The event, which took place at Chak Barahm, Jhelum, marked the destruction of approximately 2700 packets of illicit cigarettes, including those without proper duty paid and smuggled varieties.
Ms. Tehmina Aamer, Chief Commissioner of RTO Rawalpindi, presided over the ceremony as the Chief Guest, joined by Commissioner Walayat Khan of the Jhelum Zone, along with officers and staff members.
The attendees were briefed on the entire process of confiscation of illicit tobacco and related products leading to their lawful destruction.
Together, the distinguished guests participated in torching and eliminating the illicit cigarettes.
