The Extended Fund Facility (EFF) arrangement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) may provide assistance for a medium-term domestic reform program for Pakistan. The IMF and Pakistan will continue to explore policy objectives and measures that could serve as the foundation for this program.Julie Kozack, the IMF’s Director of Communications, made this statement during a press briefing.
She went on to say that the reform program being discussed by the authority has few objectives, including moving Pakistan from economic stabilization to robust, inclusive, and resilient growth and maintaining economic credibility through the ongoing execution of sensible policies. The purpose of these program debates is to determine whether these are also necessary to raise the standard of living for Pakistani citizens.
The IMF official said, “with respect to Pakistan and where we are since the end of recent mission,” in response to a query. Thus, from May 13 to May 23, we were on a mission to Pakistan. It was a visit from our workers to Islamabad. We will keep talking about the objectives and course of action that might serve as the foundation for Pakistan’s medium-term domestic reform program, which could get backing under the EFF arrangement with the IMF.
She responded to a follow-up inquiry on the previous actions and the budget for 2024–25 by saying that the team and the authorities are still in talks and would get back to you as soon as they have more details. She went on to say that the objective of Pakistan’s 2023 Stand-by Arrangement (SBA) was to restore stability, with the aim of preserving, expanding, and enhancing stability in order to create the conditions for long-term, sustainable growth.
