Islamabad, June 16, 2025: Former Prime Minister and PTI founder Imran Khan has strongly condemned the assassination of senior Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh’s relatives and the bombing campaign in Iran and Gaza, calling it a “war crime orchestrated by Netanyahu’s government.”
Taking to Twitter, Khan declared, “I strongly condemn the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh’s family and the bombings in Iran. These attacks are crimes against humanity led by the war criminal Netanyahu.”
The tweet has sparked a political storm online, triggering fierce debates across Pakistani social media. Netizens are sharply divided, with trending hashtags like #ImranKhanSpeaksTruth and #IsraelWarCrimes dominating X (formerly Twitter).
Amid this heated atmosphere, Minister of State Huzaifa Rahman (Form 47) publicly challenged the authenticity of Khan’s stance, saying,
“Show me even a single tweet by Imran Khan against Netanyahu.”
His remark has fueled further controversy, with PTI leaders like Taimoor Saleem Jhagra defending Khan’s record, and PPP’s Dr. Sharmila Faruqi criticizing the timing of his comments. Faruqi alleged that Khan was using global tragedies for political mileage.
