Islamabad, Mar 10 2025: Five Indian players have been included in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Team of the Tournament following their thrilling victory over New Zealand in the final.
The Black Caps, despite their defeat, secured four spots, with Rachin Ravindra earning the Player of the Tournament title and Mitchell Santner being named captain.
Afghanistan also celebrated a historic milestone, as two of their players made the elite XI after securing their first-ever Champions Trophy victory in their debut appearance.
Key Selections in Team of the Tournament
Rachin Ravindra cemented his spot with stellar performances, scoring 263 runs, including centuries against Bangladesh (112) and South Africa (108) in the semi-final.
Joining him at the top is Afghanistan Ibrahim Zadran, who made history with a record-breaking 177-run knock against England in the group stage.
Virat Kohli claimed the No. 3 spot with 218 runs at 54.50, including a century vs. Pakistan and 84 in the semi-final against Australia.
Middle order was strengthened by Shreyas Iyer, the top scorer for India with 243 runs, and KL Rahul, who averaged 140 thanks to crucial unbeaten innings in the semi-final and final.
Glenn Phillips secured No. 6 with stellar batting and catches, while Azmatullah Omarzai earned his spot with 126 runs and seven wickets.
Captain Mitchell Santner led with nine wickets, including key final dismissals. Shami, Henry (10 wickets), and Chakravarthy joined the squad, with Axar Patel as the 12th man.
The selection panel comprised Ian Bishop, Simon Doull, Aaron Finch, journalist Rasesh Mandani, and ICC General Manager Gaurav Saxena.
