Islamabad, 7 May, 2025: In a significant escalation late last night, India’s army has launched “Operation Sindoor”, hitting nine sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir, resulting in the martyrdom of eight citizens and leaving at least 35 others wounded, as confirmed by officials.
The strikes reportedly hit non-military zones, triggering widespread condemnation and sharply rising tensions in the region.
Key Airports Closed, Flights Suspended Nationwide
In light of the emerging conflict, major airports in Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi were closed temporarily. All domestic and international flights were halted, scheduled flight were canceled causing widespread disruption in air travel across the country.

Pakistan Strikes Back
Responding swiftly, Pakistan launched retaliatory attacks, targeting Indian military installations and destroyed brigade headquarters. Military insiders described the response as proportionate yet forceful.
Emergency NSC Meeting Convened by PM Shehbaz
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called for an urgent session of the National Security Council to assess the situation and to discuss Pakistan’s defense and diplomatic strategies.

ISPR Chief Reveals Strike Details
During a media briefing, the Director General of ISPR stated that India launched 24 attacks on six sites in Pakistan, and all targets hit were civilian in nature, with most being mosques. He further confirmed the exact locations hit by Indian missiles and outlined the casualties.

Pakistan Foreign Office Issues Strong Condemnation
Pakistan’s Foreign Office issued a stern condemnation, labeling the strikes as “unprovoked and blatant act of war”. The statement warned that India would be held answerable on international platforms.

U.S. President Donald Trump, in a brief comment from the White House, termed rising tension between India and Pakistan a shame “regrettable” and called for calm and restraint from both sides.
Defense Minister Says 5 Indian Jets Shot Down
Pakistan’s Defense Minister announced that the Pakistan Air Force had shot down five Indian Air Force jets whereas, all jets of Pakistan are safe and sound from any attack.

Schools and Colleges Closed in Islamabad, Punjab
Due to escalating tensions, the Punjab government had announced all educational institutions across Punjab will remain closed today in the interest of public safety.
Islamabad’s district administration had also ordered all academic institutions to remain closed until further notice.
In a related development, the Government of Punjab has officially postponed all examinations scheduled for today across Punjab. Revised dates will be announced later.
China Urges Calm After India Strikes Pakistan
China has described India’s missile attacks on Pakistan as “regrettable” and urges both nations to de-escalate and show restraint amid rising tensions.
