Islamabad, 10 May, 2025: Sheikh Zayed International Airport has come under attack amid the latest military developments between India and Pakistan, officials confirmed on Saturday morning.
The overnight strike, which Pakistani authorities described as “unprovoked and disgraceful,” reportedly caused structural damage to the airport infrastructure in Rahim Yar Khan.
The airstrike, which occurred as part of India’s continuing military escalation, is being viewed in Pakistan as a direct assault on one of the most prominent symbols of its diplomatic alliance with the United Arab Emirates.

The Sheikh Zayed International Airport, constructed in 1993 and named in honour of the UAE’s founding father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, stands as a testament to long-standing bilateral cooperation.
Officials close to the matter said that targeting such a civilian infrastructure represented a significant breach of international norms, with the airport serving as a regional hub for commercial flights and humanitarian operations.
The attack was characterised by the Pakistani government as “a desperate and shameful attempt” by Indian forces to provoke outrage.
The incident follows recent reports of an attempted strike near Nankana Sahib, a site of immense religious significance to the Sikh community.
Pakistani defence sources believe this pattern indicates a widening scope in India’s targeting strategy under the banner of military expansionism.
Security analysts monitoring Operation Bunyan Un Marsoos (Iron Wall), Pakistan’s ongoing defence response, stated that India’s actions were being met with calculated restraint.

However, preparations are reportedly in place for immediate countermeasures should hostilities continue to escalate.
As of now, Sheikh Zayed International Airport remains closed for civilian operations, with a detailed damage assessment underway.
Authorities have reinforced that all civilian and international facilities will be safeguarded against future aggression.
Sheikh Zayed International Airport has now become a focal point in this evolving regional conflict marking not just a tactical target, but a blow to the spirit of international partnership and peace.
